Periscope background
Periscope (the space
with a dance) is an event-led space, at the heart of the city,
a gallery for short exhibitions and one-off events. It exists as a
resource for Birmingham Artists’ membership but also offers
genuine support and opportunities for involvement of non-members from across
the Midlands.
There is no agreed formula for the work to follow and it is anticipated
that it will range from cutting edge conceptual work to traditional art
forms.
Its ambition is to function as a vital and inclusive space, which will
become an intrinsic part of the Birmingham arts landscape.
Faye Claridge, member
of the Periscope project team, said: “All artists in the Midlands need
three vital things; a place to experiment with new ideas, the support
of other artists and exhibition opportunities to reach new audiences.
We are really excited that Periscope is offering all of these and confident
that it can make a valuable contribution to the area and beyond.”
